Espresso Yourself BBQ Sauce

There’s a lot going on in this simple BBQ sauce. Tang from the vinegar, sweetness from the brown sugar, earthiness from the espresso, and smoky-chocolatey-spice from the FL Coffee Talk creates a great utility barbecue sauce. You can substitute a strong coffee, but real-deal espresso is the key to making this recipe work. Upfront punch from the vinegar, then mellows into an equally noticeable espresso bite, making for an unlikely yet happy marriage of flavor! We love this BBQ sauce with fatty, rich meats such as brisket, pork shoulder, burgers, etc., but we find that it tends to overpower the flavor of lean meats.

Those Florida Guys seasonings used in this recipe:

Yields: 1 Batch | Prep Time: 5 Minutes | Total Time: 30 Minutes

Ingredients:

1 ½ c. ketchup

¼ c. white vinegar

½ c. apple cider vinegar

¼ c. soy sauce (we prefer low sodium)

2 tbs. Those Florida Guys FL Coffee Talk

¼ c. packed brown sugar

3 tablespoons of fresh espresso

Process:

1 | Add the ketchup, white vinegar, apple cider vinegar, soy sauce, FL Coffee Talk, and brown sugar to a sauce pan over medium heat.

2 | Cook and stir stirring occasionally for 20 minutes until the sauce is thick and plum-colored.

**Be patient here while all the ingredients combine and smooth out. Look for the sauce to cover the spoon in a light layer.**

3 | While the sauce comes to a simmer, brew espresso.

4 | When the sauce is at a simmer and all ingredients are combined, remove the sauce from the heat and add the espresso.

5 | Stir to combine and allow to cool. The sauce will set up as it cools.

6 | Store refrigerated in an airtight container.

7 | Serve and enjoy!
